About the Author
M.R. Polish was born in Idaho, a long, long, long, maybe not that long time ago.... Writing has always been there for her. Growing up, her mind was filled with stories, some she shared and others she filed away to write down later in life. It wasn't until 2011 that she decided to publish her stories for everyone to enjoy. Her first award and when writing became more than just an idea was in the 5th grade. She won the scary story contest for the school newspaper. It is one story she still has tucked away for memories. Her teacher told her she could be anything she wanted and that she had a talent for writing, being creative and drawing people into her stories. M.R. took that to heart and continued to write, although mostly in secret until recent years.
She lives in Nevada and enjoys life with her family - wrangling her four kids, setting traps in the house with toys for unsuspecting victims (aka, her husband) and writing down all her crazy and fun stories.
M.R. is the author of the Young Adult Paranormal Romance Wolf Trilogy
(Wolf Spell, Wolf Dream, Wolf Fate)
As well as the Ageless Series, a Fantasy Romance.

Witch Hunt #12

         “I swear, I had no idea. I’m just glad you’re okay.” Candy passed the test. There was no lie written in her forehead, like the little line that showed when she tried to fib.
Damn. Alice really had hoped it was a prank. The insistent gurgling in her stomach rose to her throat.  Behind her hand, she groaned. “I think I’m gonna be sick.”
Running to the small bathroom, she relished the cool tile against her flushed skin. She was never drinking again.

It's Tradition Time...

So, with December 24 hours away, I thought I'd do a post about Holiday Traditions...

When I was little my favorite time of year, like most, was Christmas. It was also my father's. It started the day after Thanksgiving and went the entire month!

Let me explain.

My dad grew up poor. Dirt poor. He used to say he never had more than two nickels to his name as a kid much less an actual tree during this time of year. And forget presents! Back then, he was lucky to get a new pair of socks, or a pair of pants and new shoes on December 25th.

So, he never wanted me to feel that way...

From the earliest time I can remember we had a big tree with lots of presents under it! Now, I also grew up in a time when there weren't a *lot* of electronics. Not like today, so most of my presents back then were toys that you actually played with, not sat and stared at all day!

I got Hot Wheels cars and Tonka Trucks from my dad, along with horse related toys and books from my mom. And naturally I got the usual clothes...but you get the idea. They were all the things I loved and I have plenty of fond memories of opening said presents.

Yes, I was a bit spoiled but my parents also made sure I understood that not everyone was a lucky as me and at some point during the season we always went on a separate shopping trip and bought a cart full of toys and clothes for Toys For Tots. It truly was the only name in giving back then but that day was one of the highlights of MY year too! I loved, loved filling the cart with all the latest cool things - for my time anyway - and dropping them off on collection day with the Marines...

It's a tradition I still carry on to this day. Although, with so many charities out there I do try and spread it around. I spend a couple hundred every year and drop them off here and there so that everyone has some.

Anyway, the other big tradition in our house was to have the tree up, decorated and presents wrapped and tucked under it by the time I went back to school on Monday...

Well, for me now it's work on Monday, but you get the idea. On Friday I put up my tree and by today I had all my presents wrapped and safely tucked under it.

See?

And before you say it, not all of those under there are for me. Some of them are, but most of them are for friends and/or my small bit of remaining family up in Ohio. I took this before I shipped off a huge box to them on Saturday...*laughs*

These are the ones I wrapped that I'll open on Christmas Day and will have forgotten what's in them and be happily surprised!

Yes, I'm old and my memory is that bad! Don't judge me!

Now, I hear you saying, but if you're single, why go to all the trouble?

Well, I guess in a way it allows me to connect with my folks again. As I was decorating on Friday, a song I used to sing as a kid kept running through my head. I sang it to Deck the Halls and called it "Deck The Daddy with Icicles...fa la la la la la..."

I was perfectly content to run amok covering my poor father with Icicles. You know, the silver ones that get everywhere no matter what you do? Yeah, I was a weird child...

So, now that I've given you mine, share some of your Holiday Traditions with me. In a comment below, tell me what you do, or did that really starts the season!

Is it shopping on Black Friday? Maybe it's the cooking or the family arriving...

Come on now, share!!! Cause my year is basically done...*laughs* At least until the 25th when I open things and enjoy a few new toys...

Oh and since we're in that giving time of year, I'll pick a winner from the commenters and send you a set of Signed Paperbacks from the Dragons, Griffons and Centaurs, Oh My! series. I'll even wrap them so you can stick them under your tree!!!!

Thanks as always for stopping by!

Until next time...

Excerpt

Tian folded up the communication stone and tucked it back into his bag. Message sent and received. Help was on the way.

Staring down at the Naiad, he wiped the fever sweat off her brow with the sleeve of his shirt. He just hoped it was in time.

She shivered and moaned, her perfect face twisting through a myriad of emotions in her delirium. He touched her forehead, nearly jerking back from the heat wavering off her skin. Poor woman was so hot it was a wonder her skin wasn’t blistering and boiling.

She bolted upright, her eyes wild and consumed with turmoil. “No, no! I will not! Stay away!”

“Shhh,” he soothed, pressing her back on the makeshift cot. “You are safe.”

She fought him, swinging out recklessly with both fists and shouted a string of obscenities in Naiad before reverting to a more common language again. “No! You Nawi! Let me be!”

The tent flap shifted and Dain’s right head ducked under it. “Is all well?”

A blow caught him across the cheek before he could halt her violent outburst. He ducked a second swing and managed to gather her against his chest. “It is fine. She is dreaming.”

Dain chuckled, shaking his head. “I see that. Do you need help?”

With her pinned in his arms, her feet began to flail under the fur they’d tucked around her. She growled, low and long, her heated gaze glaring death his way.

“No. We will be fine. Could use some broth though.”

Dain sighed. “You will need more than broth I fear, before this is over.”

He nodded slightly toward his second in command. “Most likely. But it will be a good start.”

Dain harrumphed in disbelief but ducked back out of the too small tent.

Alone again, he rocked the woman, humming softly, hoping it would alleviate whatever nightmare had her in its cold, dark grip. “Viana, tu’lin kan sil zenna…” He sang an ancient tune his own mother had used to pacify him as kit. “Be still my love, the dark will lift with the new daylight…You need not fear, I am here…”

He’d forgotten the rest, but continued to hum until she stilled against his chest and her eyes slipped closed. When her breathing evened out as much as it could, he gently stretched her back out and tucked the covers around her again. For now, sweating out the toxin was the most they could do for her.

The sad part, he still didn’t know her name…

~~~~~~~~~~~EXCERPT~~~~~~~~~~~
Terra stared across the way at the Harpies going about their business as if they didn’t have a care in the world and for just a breath, she wanted to rage at all of them.
Didn’t they know there was a war on? Didn’t they realize the lengths evil was willing to go to, to win?
If they did, they didn’t care apparently. Draven had said they’d remained oblivious to outsiders unless there was a profit to be made and had always reminded him of Goblins. He’d added in the next breath, they weren’t the fighters they’d once been and preferred to heal nowadays.
“What is that phrase you use? A pen for your thoughts? Is that it?”
She smiled over her shoulder, exhaling softly. He’d been trying so hard over the last week or so to win her over again that she finally decided to cut him some slack. At least a little. “Something like that.”
He came to the railing and reclined back against it. Facing the suite, he ignored the hubbub of the citizens. “So, what are you thinking, Kyleri?”
She propped her chin on her palm, tapping her fingers against her cheek. “That without Haydn, tonight would have had a far different outcome.”
His lips pursed. “I agree.”
The sun was just beginning to peek through the trees, throwing beams here and there to start a new day. It had taken them most of the night to pilot the N’Val back to the jungle domain and she knew it hovered somewhere off to the right and above them. A few of the Harpies had boarded at their request and were examining the bombs still loaded in her belly. What would or could come from it, she had no clue, but it was a start. It would be even better if they could do it again. In Bra’ka.
But, she was loath to ask Haydn to go undercover a second time.
As if reading her thoughts, Draven spoke in a calm, sure voice. “She is on her way.”
She groaned and ran a hand through her hair. “And Arin? How did he take it?”
Her mate blew out a lungful of air. “He went with her.”
She pinched the bridge of her nose. “Oy vey…”
He chuckled and laid a hand on her back. “I feel much the same. But, we are needed here. Haydn said this is not finished. The plan to bomb Gahroon was only the first stage. Carax and the remaining troops are already heading for the Butte’s…”
Thanks, as always, for stopping by.
Until next time.
Cowboys are a different breed... They work hard, play hard and love harder. It's all about the ride, until the right woman makes them fall.
cowgirl-crazy-cover
BLURB:
Twyla Taylor is one frustrated cowgirl. She's not winning at barrel racing or in love. She's spent ten years nursing a crush on her brother's best friend, Ryan Easter, who thinks of her as no more than his little sister. When Twyla catches Ryan with yet another no-good buckle bunny, and calls him out, he tells her to get a life, and that is exactly what she decides to do. One that does not include a buckle-bunny-chasing cowboy with a bad attitude, or an overbearing older brother.
Ryan Easter is one frustrated cowboy. He's winning every night at bronc riding, and has a different woman in every city. Mostly so he can keep his best friend's fiery little sister, and his desire for her, at bay. Since she grew those proud little breasts of hers, and mile-long legs, Ryan has had to fight his attraction to her. If her brother knew what he was thinking, he would kill Ryan, if her daddy didn't first.
Ryan valued the surrogate family the Taylor's provided him with too much to ever go there with their youngest member. His diversion techniques work like a charm, until one night he pushes her too far, and Twyla takes off. Ryan knows he has to find her quickly and apologize, or face his best friend's wrath. He finds Twyla in Dallas and decides she's definitely gone cowgirl crazy. He barely recognizes her, because his barrel-racing tomboy is wearing makeup that looks like it was put on with a putty knife and she's working at a bar which borders on a cowgirl strip club. When she isn't serving shots off of her stomach, she's shaking her round ass for any man with a dollar to shove into the waistband of her barely-there shorts. Twyla refuses to leave with him, and Ryan knows he better make his final arrangements, or come up with another way to convince her and fast.
HOT (18+) EXCERPT from COWGIRL CRAZY...
Ignoring her comment, and what had to be her obvious discomfort, Ryan stepped forward, leaned over her to balance his shot glass about two inches under her navel. Heather always put it at the base of her ribcage, so a little would spill into her navel, but Ryan put his lower. Her muscles contracted, as the cold glass touched her skin and heat zinged through her as she thought about him licking her up to the glass, before taking the shot. The amber liquid sloshed in the glass, and he frowned. “No spilling, Twy, or there will be consequences.” His eyes met hers and his pupils were dilated almost as large as the blue irises. His breathing came in short spurts, and she could see his pulse pounding at the side of his throat. The look on his handsome face said he would relish delivering those consequences. “By the time I’m done, I’ll really need that drink.”
A shiver worked itself up her body from her toes, and the glass wobbled. She gasped and contracted her muscles to steady it. Agitation bristled through her. “Why don’t you just have the damned shot then, and get on with this?” That’s what she really wanted.
His hand clamped on her ankle, and he grinned. “Patience is a virtue, darlin’. Slow is not always a bad thing, and I’m about to teach you that, and a lot more.” His voice was heavy with anticipation, and his sensual threat was punctuated by his tongue making a trip around his lips.
Her eyes followed it around and heat sizzled along her nerves to singe her at the apex of her thighs. Maybe this is why all those bunnies she saw leaving his trailer were smiling. They must have had the patience he was talking about, and liked that Ryan was slow as a turtle in his lovemaking.
Twyla wasn’t sold on it yet, but deciding to try to find the patience he asked her to have. She a huffed a breath then relaxed and uncurled her fists. What the hell did she know about all this, anyway? She was green as grass at this, he knew what he was doing. Had done it many times. Too many. “Get on with it, then,” she grumbled, settling her focus on keeping that shot glass steady on her lower abdomen.
Ryan’s dark head appeared in her line of vision, and Twyla gasped. His eyes met hers over the plane of her tummy, and were filled with mischief and purpose. His hot breath tickled her thighs when he warned, “Keep it still, Twyla. No spilling.” He slid his hands, behind her calves, and under her thighs to hold her hands at her sides, then turned his face to plant a wet kiss on her inner thigh. His mouth latched there and he sucked, while his tongue swirled on her skin. Fire zipped up to her core, her muscles contracted, and Twyla whimpered. The glass wobbled and she knew right then she was in big trouble.
